Fitness made quick

Rico Caveglia
We all know regular exercise is good for us and most of us would like to enjoy a high level of fitness. Notice I said most of us, for some reason, that I still do not fully understand, there are those of us that will never realize how much being fit adds to the quality of our life.

Shall I mention a few, such as more energy, higher self-esteem, ability to accomplish more, both physically and mentally. How about just looking and feeling better? Ok enough of that, this article is about how you can squeeze some beneficial activities into a busy schedule.

Too Busy to Exercise?

We all seem to be caught up in this new millennium lifestyle of feeling we are so busy that we just can't do everything we want to. This is all the more reason that we need to take time outs daily, to rejuvenate ourselves. Improving our fitness level is the best way to meet these challenging times.

First keep in mind that to gain the benefits of improved cardiovascular function, muscle tone, strength and flexibility, you do not have to go to a gym and workout for hours. The good news is; you can get healthy benefits from short bouts of movement. Four five minute workouts are nearly as beneficial as one 20 minute session. Even a few minutes of physical activity such as walking and climbing stairs will help strengthen your heart, burn calories and tone muscles. Regularly re-organizing your office by moving furniture and supplies and cleaning up will also help, as well as make you more productive. In others words do not miss the opportunity to do ordinary physical things through your day.

Modern conveniences. friend or foe?

All our modern gadgets, that do just about every thing for us and save us time, are they really beneficial? They may allow us to accomplish more but have they improved the quality of our lives? Are we healthier? Are we enjoying life more? Are we felling more peaceful and fulfilled? Our waistlines are expanding, our health is declining and most everyone feels rushed and overworked. I suggest we use our time saving gadgets less and increase activities that integrate mind and body. Mundane activities such as pulling weeds in the garden, washing our car, ironing a shirt connect us to the physical world, slow down our minds and exercise our bodies. So don't just stop and smell the rose, grow some.

Tips for Activities at the Office

First, park a short distance from your office and walk. Steadily increase your distance if time and weather permit.

Every hour get up from your desk and move around, go outside for the fresh air.

Do a series of chair exercises throughout your day. Tilt your head back and slowly roll your neck side to side. Shrug your shoulders up and back several times. You can go to my web site at:www.ageless-living.com for a complete description of chair exercises.

Do some of your own errands instead of having others do them.

Keep a rubber ball in your desk and squeeze it through the day. This increases hand and forearm strength and reduces tension.

Keep a big bottle of water on your desk, drink from it frequently.

Tips for Activities at Home

Try doing some household tasks manually instead of using an electrical appliance (save some energy ). Now I'm not suggesting you take your laundry to the river to wash, however there are some things you can easily do. For example, use a broom instead of a vacuum, hand squeeze your juice, towel dry your hair, get up and manually change the channel, mow your lawn with a push mower. You get the idea, whenever possible substitute elbow grease for electricity. You will save money and avoid harmful EMF's (electromagnetic frequencies)

The key to improving your fitness is consistency.

You need to move your body everyday as often as possible. Every little bits helps. Of course if you can go to the gym, take a fitness class or go out for a bike ride by all means do so.
